Experience

I have been to seven different countries and at least 30 states and I am so grateful for the opportunities I have been given. Since I am from Florida, I truly enjoy being in other parts of the country and world, I really like to experience different climates and locations.

In the summer of 2011 I was selected to be part of the Semester in Washington Journalism program through The George Washington University. I was one of the 19 students out of 150 applications to be part of the  program. It was a huge growing experience, I was able to learn more about myself, the other people in the program, and what would be expected of me after graduation. Being in Washington, D.C was about taking advantage of opportunities that I was not offered in Florida. In my reel you will find a link to an excerpt of a documentary completed as part of this program commissioned by the Capital Fringe Festival.

After graduation I moved to Melbourne, Fl. I acquired an internship a local production company, Digital Zoetrope Productions where I was able to work with the talented, Mike Misconi. Digital Zoetrope is the production counterpart of the advertising agency, Tight Line Productions, owned by Mark Lewis. Eventually, I became an account executive for Tight Line Productions later discovering that sales is not my forte. I have learned that any experience is good experience and if you are not learning what you want to do, you’re learning what you would prefer not to do. Upon leaving Tight Line Productions I began working as a freelance editor and production assistant, in addition to continuing to tutor students in subjects including; elementary math, Algebra 1, and Biology. Now, I am continuing to tutor and have started a new position with A Cut Above Video Productions. I have finally found something I enjoy and have been able to buy a Canon 5D Mark III to continue working on and building my reel. Now, I need to continue developing my editing and camera skills and work toward my goal of editing movie trailers.
